The Association commenced operations in the former borough of
Arfon before expanding into the adjoining Dwyfor district in
1984 and then onto the Isle of Anglesey in 1985. We have
maintained a full-time area office on Anglesey since 1991. In
1988 the Association established “Gofal a Thrwsio Arfon”, one of
the first Care & Repair agencies in Wales, which subsequently
expanded into Dwyfor in 1991. The Association expanded into the
former district of Meirionnydd following a transfer of
engagements from CT Meirionnydd Nant Conwy in 1992. We
maintained a part-time area office in Blaenau Ffestiniog until
2005.
At the time of local government reorganisation in 1996 the Arfon/Dwyfor
Care & Repair agency expanded into Meirionnydd and began
operating as “Gofal a Thrwsio Gwynedd”. In 1996 the Association
was awarded the franchise for the newly launched Homebuy scheme
in Gwynedd, Anglesey and Conwy. We also maintained a full-time
area office in Pwllheli form 1996 until 2005 when housing
services in Gwynedd were centralised. In 1997 the Association
accepted a transfer of engagements from Beaumaris HA. We
succeeded in establishing a Care & Repair agency on Anglesey,
“Gofal a Thrwsio Môn”, in 1998. A group structure was
established in 1999 following the incorporation of “Gofal a
Thrwsio Gwynedd” as a subsidiary company. “Gofal a Thrwsio Môn”
also became a subsidiary of the Association in 2003.
In 2004 the Association established the Gwynedd Rural Housing
Enabler project. Our estate regeneration strategy at Cae Llwybr,
Caernarfon received a TPAS Cymru award for the best tenant
participation project of 2005. The Association was one of the
founder members of the UNDOD Partnership with CT Clwyd, North
Wales HA and Mid Wales HA in 2005. We also embarked on a pilot
scheme introducing tele-care into traditional sheltered housing
that year. In 2006 the Association took direct responsibility
for delivering support services to women suffering from domestic
violence on Anglesey.
